Tavík František Šimon (1877 - 1942) FROM KLÁROV

František Šimon Tavík was a prominent graphic artist, painter, wood engraver and later taught at the Academy of Fine Arts. He was a member of the S.V.U. Mánes and co-founder of the Hollar association. He excelled as a documentary photographer of Prague, created a large graphic collection and also visited and recorded the monuments of other European cities. In his graphic art he took an almost documentary approach, while in his paintings his brush is freer and impressionistic tendencies were more often evident, especially after his visit to France.
