Jaroslav Horejc (1886 - 1983) PERSEUS

The stylization of the sculpture of Perseus' head, from the artist's early period, refers to inspirational models ranging from ancient Mediterranean cultures through archaic Greek figures and Renaissance sculpture to graceful Mannerist figures. Several variants of this sculpture were created over a longer period of time. There is a drawing with the author's note, the exact date when he began working on this sculpture, and the date when he finished it, dated 1917. The dimensions given include the plinth. Defect: minor abrasions on the patina.
