Jakub Obrovský (1882 - 1949) PICNIC IN THE MEADOW

The work shows the artist's fascination with symbolist tendencies, which he picked up during his studies with Prof. M. Pirner, Art Nouveau decorativeness and traditional academic painting referring to M. Švabinský. Like many artists at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, Obrovský sought to capture in his work the natural state of human harmony in lost paradises in idyllic timelessness.
