MONUMENTAL VASE

A monumental historicist vase in the shape of a baluster with a high neck and flared mouth, fitted with a pair of flat, vertically composed mounted gilded handles. The body rests on a profiled foot with a flared base. Decorated with rich gilded scrollwork. On both sides of the body are white oval cartouches with a hand-painted floral composition on one side and two stylized putti in clouds with two doves on the other. This piece corresponds to the assembled luxury vases of historicism, which were very popular at the end of the 19th century. Minor abrasions in the gilding, chip on the handle, cracked base.
