Zdeněk Palcr (1927 - 1996) RESTING

Zdeněk Palcr was one of those sculptors who remained on the fringes of the main artistic movements. His starting point was mainly Cubist sculpture, following in the footsteps of Gutfreund, yet he remained firmly anchored in figurative expression. In his work, he emphasized personal authenticity and the responsibility of the author, and he consistently strove to capture higher, timeless ideas, which he concentrated into the simplified, almost archetypal forms of his sculptures.
