"FIRST" CHAIR
1983
90 x 65 cm (h x b)
| 750 EUR
The "First" chair is an iconic, almost sculptural work created by Michele De Lucchi. The designer pays tribute to Alexander Calder with its lightness of form. Produced in small series, the chair brings a new concept of the perfect combination of industry and craftsmanship in true Memphis style. It features a blue adjustable backrest and two black balls that serve as armrests. Michele De Lucchi is an Italian designer and architect. At the turn of the 1970s and 1980s, he was a leading representative of radical architecture and participated in the most important Italian design movements of the time. The typical signature of the Memphis group is striking colors, asymmetrical shapes, and wild color combinations. Their work was inspired by art deco and pop art, as well as futurism and the art of the 1950s. The chairs comes from the important collection of artist and collector Ivan Steiger, who purchased it in the 1980s.
