Václav Cigler is the founder of the conceptual perception of glass as an artistic expression. In his work, he anticipated the emerging concepts of contemporary artistic expression (constructivist tendencies, minimalism, land art, and light and kinetic sculpture). He has been working with glass, mainly optical glass, since the late 1950s. Over time, we can see how his studies have shifted toward the expression of precise geometric forms in order to emphasize the fluid nature of the landscape, capture the purity of space, or highlight the interaction between space and man. This use of glass optics broke through the international contemporary art industry and created a fresh form of artistic expression. Provenance: important private collection, New York, currently Prague.
