Around the 1890s, moody landscape painting developed among the students of Mařák's academic landscape studio as an important expression of the new Art Nouveau style. Typical of this style is the poetic note of landscape recordings with hints of French Impressionism and realistic elements. The influence of Mařák's students at Okoř was truly crucial for Hudeček; he returned there and developed into a masterful landscape painter. The aesthetic effect is achieved through the choice of the depicted section, the bold use of color with the use of color spots, and the mood of the landscape. The works of Antonín Hudeček, together with those of Slavíček, are considered to be among the most beautiful examples of contemporary landscape painting.
