Vlastimil Beneš (1919 - 1981) STORAGE OUTSIDE THE CITY

Vlastimil Beneš was a member of the Máj 57 group and was also influenced by folk art. He recorded a wide range of civilian motifs, including the industrial landscape presented here. He was very fond of compositions with a long horizontal line and used them to accentuate the geometry of the city. He managed to imbue the city with an unusual lively poetry, optimism, and a certain exaggeration, which he achieved through simple modeling and the frequent use of advertising graphics in his urban compositions.
