The focus of Multrus's compositions is the human figure, usually from an ordinary working-class background. Josef Multrus chose old-master colors and lighting, which reveal his respect for faithful representation. He skillfully incorporated lively everyday situations, which he accentuated with brightly colored elements, similar to the approach taken by Dutch painters.
