A collection of sculptural designs consisting of a conference table, a side table, and a wall object. The objects are made of Czech glass and Italian marble. The Erosion series is inspired by the gradual and never-ending decay of everything around us, especially the landscape, coastline, and river valleys. This decay is paused for a moment so that it can be better examined, which is possible thanks to the basic property of glass—transparency, which allows us to see beneath the surface of things. Johan Pertl was born and raised in the glassmaking region of Vysočina. From 2015 to 2018, he studied at the Czech Technical University and also worked at the DECHEM studio. He then joined the Glass Studio at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague, where he graduated in 2022 and is currently continuing his doctoral studies. In his glasswork, he focuses on the natural and social mechanisms that surround us. In addition to collections intended for collectors, he focuses primarily on site-specific realizations—sculptures and objects created specifically for particular locations, whether private interiors or exteriors. Each work is created in dialogue with the architecture and environment into which it enters and becomes an organic part of. He currently works in his own studio in Strahov, where he creates his own collections and custom projects.
