"ROSE" TABLE LAMP
um 1910
52,5 cm (h)
| 2 917 EUR
The "Rose" lamp reflects Emil Gallé's unmistakable style, which is evident in his remarkable work with glass and his desire to experiment, reflected in the diversity of his recognizable designs. The technique of layered glass with etched floral motifs, which Gallé used in countless variations, is brought to perfection in this lamp. The honey-yellow layer and red color of the etched decoration create a warm effect. This effect is further enhanced when illuminated and transferred to the surrounding space. The rose motif, which plays a recurring role in the artist's life and work, is also very interesting. In his work "Ecrits pour l'Art" (1908), Émile Gallé devotes entire passages to the beauty, fragrance, and diversity of species, cultivation, and breeding of roses. Emile Gallé, who worked in Nancy, France, is considered by many to be the world's leading glassmaker at the turn of the 19th and early 20th centuries. The pieces produced by his eponymous company were known for their beautiful shapes, rich color palettes, and Art Nouveau-inspired decorativeness related to nature, botany, and insects. Electrified.
