Augustin Satra (1877 - 1909) LANDSCAPE WITH A BROOK

Augustin Satra is one of the lesser-known landscape painters and his works are rather rare on the market. The landscapes reveal Mařak's influence and subtle sensitivity to nature, Satra gained a sovereign command of the plein air rather quickly and his works are above average to say the least. From 1902 we know works from the vicinity of Blaník - a stream with massive boulders surrounded by fences could be the Brodec, for example, which meanders through a wooded landscape, flows through settlements and is dissected by small rapids. Augustin Satra has sensitively recorded the landscape from a slight overlook of the disappearing contours of foliage cutting into the glistening surface of the water.
