The theme of human destiny and life's vicissitudes often resonates in the works of Josef Jíra. Biblical themes, which are linked to the message of overcoming adversity and human dignity and feeling, have become his archetypal models for enduring adversity. Josef Jíra's collages first appeared in the 1980s with profane motifs from pubs, cafés and bars. Gradually, however, they spill over into the suggestive world of mysticism. These are the artist's heartfelt improvisations full of phantoms and symbols. Verso signed dedication to MD. Vavrena from 19.V. 2000.
