Břetislav Benda (1897 - 1983) TORSO - THOUGHTFUL III

The author of the sculpture, the academic sculptor Břetislav Benda, a graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague, a pupil of the founders of modern Czech sculpture, J. V. Myslbek and Jan Stursa, created an extensive oeuvre of many chamber sculptures and more than a hundred life-size and larger-than-life sculptures during his lifetime. The sculpture "Torso - Zamyšlená III" is derived from the life-size sculpture "Zamyšlená III". The harmoniously conceived sculpture with its lyrical expression demonstrates the great concentration the artist devoted to this balanced sculpture. The offered sculpture, which was highly valued by the artist, comes from the artist's estate. It is a bronze casting No. 1. Exhibitions. The work is accompanied by a certificate proving the authenticity of the work from the artist's heirs.
