Josef Wenig worked as a scenic and stage designer, which was also reflected in his artistic expression. In addition to stage design, he also designed theatrical costumes, participated in the design of theatre posters and designed sets and costumes for film, and provided artwork for various publications and books. In his thirty years of work, he directed over 600 productions. Among the more important works of this period are those he created with J. Kvapil, especially productions of plays by W. Shakespeare. The sets were typically baroque, almost exotically decorated and centrally composed. A series of postcards with amorous themes also corresponds to the work presented.
