One of the boldest designers of Czech Cubist furniture was unquestionably Pavel Janák. These unique expressively shaped chairs, with diamond-shaped armrests and the characteristic inward angle of the front legs requiring the precise craftsmanship of a master carpenter, date from his early phase. The chairs still feature the original upholstery. The furniture collections of the Museum of Decorative Arts in Prague contain identical chairs in light brown, which came from a furniture set designed for Janák's first Cubist villa for the Jakubec family in Jičín. Published in the catalogue Český Kubismus 1909-1925, published 1999, p. 271.
