Josef Joza Novák studied at the School of Applied Arts in Prague between 1901 and 1907. From 1907 he studied privately in Paris, then worked under the sculptor prof. Albert Lauermann in Detmold, Germany. He exhibited with the Union of Visual Artists and the Artistic Beseda in Prague. His works are represented in the collections of the National Gallery. The offered sculpture on a plinth made of Slivenec marble represents a warrior in a dynamic gesture of throwing a spear protecting his head with a shield. The given size is with the plinth.
