A rare Art Nouveau mantel clock designed by the Viennese designer Moritz Hacker, who produced accessories for luxury home decoration in his metalworking factory k. & k. Hof-Silber und Chinasilberwarenfabrik during the Vienna Art Nouveau period. The range included elegant candlesticks, lamps, and dressing and writing sets. In the case of mantel clocks, Hacker adopted the classic morphology of the portal clock, giving it a unique, very modern character for its time. The rich decoration with Art Nouveau patterns and stylized flowers emphasizes work analogous to the designs of Joseph Maria Olbrich. The silvered surface and the translucent cobalt blue glass columns make the clock a monumental appearance. The high quality of craftsmanship is combined with the Art Nouveau flair of the refined Viennese housing culture of the early 20th century. Excellent preserved condition. Stamped. Published by W. Neuwirth. Blühender Jugendstil, Bd. II. Wien. 1991. S. 251-254.
