The sculptor Vincenc Vingler was trained at the UMPRUM in Prague under professors Jan Lauda and Karel Štipl. He worked as a set designer at the Unitarie Theatre and the Míla Mellanová Prague Youth Theatre, as a set designer at the theatre in Kladno, and collaborated with the Horácké Theatre in Jihlava. He devoted himself to sculpture and drawing, thematically to sculptures of birds, animals, and their drawings. Only at the end of his life did he create human figures. From 1949 he was a designer of the Czechoslovak Ceramic Works, a member of the Union of Artists of Fine Arts, and from 1947 a member of the Art Beseda. His last solo exhibition was held at the Old Town Hall in 1981 and he is well represented in the collection of sculptures and drawings of the National Gallery of Fine Arts, which organized a large exhibition for him in 2014 in the Troja Castle. The patinated bronze sculpture on offer has a larger version of black marble and comes from the collection of the important First Republic bronze maker Karel Barták.
