The old monumental ceramic sculptures representing a guarding lion leaning on a decorated pearl with its front paws and a lioness with a similar expression clutching a stylized cub are glazed in the color combination called "egg and spinach". This is a Qing dynasty work in the Kangxi style. In the cultural context of China, lions were placed at the entrance of the wealthy houses for their symbolic meaning of protection, happiness, and majesty. Excellent condition, restored.
