Karel Gabriel studied sculpture at the Akademie der bildenden Künste in Munich. Between 1911 and 1914 he was a member of the Union of Artists and from 1919 he collaborated with Josef Mařatka on his large monuments. He created tombstones and a number of memorials to the fallen in World War I (Pacov, Třeboň, Chýnov, Česká Kubice, Dražice). The offered sculpture with features of classical sculpture in patinated bronze represents a stylized allegory of saving and work. In the lower part of the female figure with a Phrygian cap with references to the motifs of work, in the left hand a purse. Below, an inscription in the spirit of the First Republic and post-war mood: WORK AND SAVE. Signed at the bottom of the plaque: GABRIEL
