From the expert opinion of PhDr. Naděžda Blažíčková-Horová: "The presented figural scene The Dawn After Good Friday is an extraordinary and probably the last work of the painter Emanuel Krescenc Liška before his unexpected death. It is a work of gallery value and Liška's works appear on the market only sporadically. Christians commemorate the martyrdom and death of Jesus Christ and the redemption of mankind. Liška depicted a moment on a monumental canvas in muted tones as night set in on the deserted hill of Golgotha in Jerusalem, the place where Jesus was crucified, and three angels mourn around around an abandoned and blood-stained cross in deep sorrow. Liška, with his lyrical and melancholic perception of the world, was fascinated by the phenomenon of night light, which went to study in Rome and Munich from the paintings of the old masters. His Bible-inspired scenes earned him the designation "Painter of the Night" and "Poet of the Moonlight."
