The figure of a young girl in an autumn grove is probably a characteristic example of Špillar's work and also a move towards an Art Nouveau-tuned act, both in the choice of theme and in the technique of drawing. He liked pastel tones, a fine, refined technique that often crystallized to the impression. It does not depict real nature, but according to V.V. Štech, he was not a "copyist" of nature and he did not look at the figure like his teacher Ženíšek, the character was part of the story. The work dates from the period when Špillar probably lived in France. The work was consulted with PhDr. Petr Wittlich, CSc.
