Kopf's work on paper is even rarer on the domestic market than works on canvas. The relaxed sketch of the Tahitian landscape represents typical and exemplary works from the given period, and the complementary tones of blue and red are used with his own bravura. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague under prof. Bukovac, Thiele and Krattner and in Dresden under prof. Gussmann. The beginnings of the work were under the influence of expressionism, he painted landscapes and biblical themes, but also the theme of the Buddha. Maxim Kopf enjoyed traveling and exploring unknown regions.
