THAI BRONZE – BUDDHA

Siam, circa 1900. A beautiful artifact from the era of the Thai kingdom of Rattanakosin (probably present-day Bangkok). Cast and gilded bronze Buddha, cast using the lost wax method and then skillfully chiseled and gilded, an authentic and attractive statue of Buddha sitting on a triple pedestal. Based on its design, it dates from the later era of reforms (1868-1910).
