Václav Příhoda was born in the family of a merchant Josef Příhoda and his wife Maria Bendová, daughter of a Prague pawnbroker. He studied at the Academy in 1903-1910. He spent a lot of time in the Middle East, especially in Egypt, where he painted a lot.
