Otto Gutfreund (1889 - 1927) CELLIST

Of all the musical motifs, the sculptor was particularly captivated by the theme of the cellist, which he explored in a series of study drawings in pen, brush, pencil, and other media. The artist was also keen to realize the Cellist in sculpture because it offered him an opportunity to thoroughly explore the principles of analytical cubism. He began working on the sculpture in 1912 and completed it the following year. Later cast.
