Turkish Anatolia, ca. 1940s. Hand-knotted wool runner from what is now Eastern Turkey, region of Konya, the once known weaving center of the Seljuk Empire. This famed and popular geometric pattern is sometimes called Kara Pinar (“Black Spring”).
