Alice Nikitinová (1979) TRAIN TRIPS

The painting Train Journeys dates from 2002, when Alice Nikitinová was studying at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague. It was inspired by her trips to Ukraine and back. At that time, the artist was feeling very nostalgic and thinking about returning home. Trains were a frequent theme in her work at that time. It was the very first painting Alice Nikitinová sold. Alice Nikitinová is a graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague, after which she left for a two-year residency at the Rijksakademie van beeldende kunsten in Amsterdam. In addition to painting, she is also involved in teaching and book illustration. In her conception, the everyday world is placed under a microscope and presented in its essence with a touch of painterly exaggeration. Her paintings also address the theme of art creation itself and, for example, the connection between art and parenthood.
