From the expert opinion of PhDr. Naděžda Blažíčková-Horová: "The small-scale painting Path Through a Deciduous Forest is undoubtedly a typical and high-quality work by the painter Julius Mařák, most likely from the second half of the 1980s, when Mařák’s perspective increasingly narrowed and focused on smaller, more confined spaces. Thematically, he focused on the interior of the forest and the life within it; he admired forest clearings, paths, swamps, and pools. The forest was Mařák’s second home; there he sought out secluded forest glades, studying the character and growth of trees, branches, thickets, and paths. He painted this enclosed world of untouched forest nature in many variations, aptly conveying its atmosphere through color."
