Miloš Jiránek (1875 - 1911) (attributed) LANDSCAPE WITH A WEIR

The Landscape with a Weir is Miloš Jiránek’s response to French Impressionism, which captured impressions from the plein air on canvas. The water rushing through the weir seeps into small islands of vegetation covered with dry grasses. Miloš Jiránek occupies an important and irreplaceable place in the development of Czech modern painting. He studied at the Academy under Maximilian Pirner and Vojtěch Hynais, and his numerous travels were an important part of his artistic development; unfortunately, his career was cut short by his death at a young age.
