The two low-relief cast-iron sculptures on a wooden panel, featuring motifs of children’s heads or cherubs, are the work of Czech sculptor Josef Václav Myslbek. A creator of monumental sculptures and portraits, and a student of T. Seidan, V. Levý, and J. M. Trenkwald at the Academy of Fine Arts, he belongs to the National Theater generation and is considered the founder of modern Czech sculpture. His extensive body of work, rooted in Romanticism and culminating in a Neo-Renaissance style, serves as a sculptural counterpart to the work of J. Mánes with its simple form and monumentality. Dimensions of the reliefs without the wooden panel: 14 x 25 cm, 14 x 26.5 cm.
