The Máj 57 group was the first group of young artists to enter the public consciousness after February 1948. The group was artistically diverse and lacked a unified program, but through their work they sought to address the artistic issues of the 20th century. Ladislav Dydek experimented in the spirit of modernist concepts; in terms of technique, he deliberately distanced himself from Socialist Realism and created harmonious works characterized by a balance of striking colors and confident contours. In 1969, he emigrated to Italy, where interesting collections of his works were formed.
