Jiří Hilmar is a leading figure among the Concretists, who in the 1960s found their way to a "second nature"—that is, to the industrial environment and often to unintentionally created new landscapes. For Jiří Hilmar, the key elements are geometry and structure; initially, in the 1960s, he arranged elements rhythmically and at right angles. Since the 1970s, he has incorporated emotionality, softened forms, sought out textiles, layered paper, and shaped his work in the spirit of natural processes.
