Human heads made of thin sheets of porcelain are characteristic of Jindra Viková's work from the 1980s. The head silhouette is held by a support made of the same material, creating a three-dimensional object that resembles a folding paper toy in its construction. One of the first works created in this way was purchased early on by the Faenza museum (Interview, 1981) and won an award at an international exhibition there. Viková then developed this method of artistic representation into a series of mostly female porcelain heads, called "Florence", from which the offered head from 1982 comes.
In 1983, a reportage "World of Jindra Viková" was published in the Czechoslovak Film Weekly (ČSFT) – a cinematographic cycle of short journalistic films consisting of reportages shown in cinemas before the start of the main film. Around the second minute, Viková can be seen in a staged shot, working on this particular piece.
