Milan Ressel created a timeless oeuvre where the realms of nature and human progress intersect. He worked as a comic book artist and a leading member of the Informel movement, and his work was also influenced by the dramatic events of his childhood during World War II. As a young boy, he emigrated with his family, and Milan Ressel traveled from France to England in the cabin of a destroyer. He experienced the bombing of London and evacuation to air-raid shelters. Even while at the Academy, his work began to diverge from traditional landscape painting, capturing a different reality—one that was futuristic and more technical, yet not pessimistically apocalyptic.
