Josef Jíra (1929 - 2005) DAISIES ON A WINDOWSILL

Josef Jíra was a painter through and through; he loved to paint the countryside, rural people, and simple nature, because all of this was intertwined with his memories. Every painting is deeply felt, modeled with emotion (and often with his fingers), and bright colors are complemented by sharply contrasting dark, deep tones. Jíra’s vast emotional range allowed him to artistically capture both the depths of the human soul and poignant glimpses of everyday optimism, such as sunlit daisies in a small vase on a windowsill. Jíra remembered these small, everyday details well as part of his childhood, which he interwove with the present. The painting comes from the estate of actor Josef Kemr.
