Václav Kiml was born in Mochov near Český Brod. He studied under Jan Bauch and Emil Filla and was a member of the Mánes Union of Fine Arts. Václav Kiml painted poetically evocative landscapes that radiated an invisible sense of peace, tranquility, and home. His spiritual conception of landscape is akin to that of Paul Klee, Joan Miró, or even his professor Jan Bauch, although he maintained a certain individuality and did not allow himself to be swept away by fashionable trends. Colorful beehives became a symbolic motif in the world of his balladic aesthetics, reminiscent of childhood memories, and also served as an important means of achieving overall color balance.
