Fused, partially polished glass. Signed reverse bottom: "JAKUB BERDYCH". Jakub Berdych is a glass artist and designer who also teaches at the Technical University of Liberec. His work is remarkable for its inconspicuous monumentality derived from natural stone forms, but also for its witty art references to styles created without artistic ambition by anonymous designers of industrial products and packages for these products. Fused objects, created based on forms derived from the most ordinary of items, offer surprising refinement and timeless stability, bringing his work into line with contemporary trends. His work is represented at the Glass and Jewelry Museum in Jablonec nad Nisou, Museum of Decorative Arts in Prague, National Museum in Wrocław, and in Czech and international private collections.
