Libenský and Brychtová are among the most sought-after designers on the global market. Libenský and Brychtová adapted molten glass technology to large-scale architectural projects. These can still be described as unique and world-class. Stanislav Libenský and his wife Jaroslava Brychtová created sculptures and stained glass windows from molten glass in molds. They also worked on smaller-scale projects. However, their work is dominated by monumental pieces – walls, grilles, stained glass (for example, the windows in the Chapel of St. Wenceslas in St. Vitus Cathedral), and geometrically stylized figural motifs. From the second half of the 1960s, they used abstract geometric forms in works with symbolic messages. At that time, they also created crystal sculptures, spheres in cubes and cubes in spheres, in which the artists manipulated light effects. The duo became known to the public primarily for their molten glass sculptures at the Expo 58 world exhibition in Brussels, where they won the Grand Prix for an object with colorful zoomorphic stones. Their exhibits at world exhibitions in Montreal (1967) also attracted admiration. At Expo 70 in Osaka, they presented their famous work River of Life. As a professor at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design between 1963 and 1987, Stanislav Libenský educated two generations of professional and inventive Czech artists. He also taught at several universities and summer schools in the USA. As an educator and artist, he has received numerous awards, been awarded honorary doctorates abroad, frequently appeared at international congresses, lectured at glass conferences, served on various international juries, and participated in numerous symposia. Together with Jaroslava Brychtová, he is represented in many galleries and museums both in the Czech Republic and abroad. The offered work in the shape of an ellipsoid consisting of two hemispheres with a diameter of 30 cm is supported by a black lacquered metal structure with backlighting. Excellent condition with no signs of damage.
