Dutch miniature depicting frozen winter river with people skating. The composition and theme follow the work of Hendrick Averkamp, the characters show the same movements when skating. Just like in the Averkamp's work, we can see frozen boats on the shore. The figures are a little differently shaped, elongated, with thin legs, but above all rather only indicated, so painting is probably a sketch. Theme of people skating on a frozen river was also painted before by Pieter Bruegel the Elder.
