Otto Gutfreund (1889 - 1927) HEAD OF A WOMAN

The work was created as part of a set of three heads, which were created between 1912 and 1913, two of which have not been preserved. Gutfreund prepared for them with a series of sketches in which he developed a shift from an analytical to a synthetic conception of Cubist form, already evident in his work on The Cellist. This is a later cast.
