Otto Gutfreund (1889 - 1927) LOVERS (IN A HUG)

The sculpture of lovers, composed on a vertical axis and following the outline of a pyramid similar to the Cubist Bust, uses a system of force curves to dematerialize the modeling. The work, understood by the author as a "materialization" of an emotional state, is a unique example of synthetic cubism, which testifies to the exceptional position of Gutfreund's art. This is a later cast.
