Antonín Hudeček visited Sicily several times. In 1902 with Jan Preisler, when he made the most of the journey and took back a number of oil sketches from Italy. The second time was with the Vorls between 1908 and 1909. The landscape of parcelled out fields, vineyards and pastures with stone walls and low houses can still be seen in the Sicilian countryside today.
