František Xaver Naske (1884 - 1959) NUDE WITH A FAN

František Xaver Naske drew inspiration from 19th-century genre painting, but added a robust materiality to his works. His subjects included genre scenes from urban and later also exotic environments. Some of his nudes were so daring that they were condemned by contemporary critics. František Xaver Naske devoted himself to fine art, but he also designed costumes and masks. He painted portraits of prominent figures from artistic circles.
