Cup with a coiled volute handle. The entire surface of both pieces is covered in an emerald green glaze, bordered with rich gilding featuring a regular pattern of stylized leaf garlands. On the front of the cup, a hand-painted medallion depicts Saint Joseph holding the infant Jesus. The composition is realistic, with vibrant colors and delicately modeled figures characteristic of the early 19th century. Saint Joseph is shown with a lily—his traditional attribute symbolizing chastity and paternal care—and both figures have subtly indicated halos. The inner base of the saucer is decorated with a gilded garland in the form of a wreath. Produced by the Sorgenthal-era Vienna porcelain manufactory. Gilding has been restored.

Damage: abrasions to the gilding and color.
