This museum-quality work by a little-known Czech artist demonstrates Post-Cubist stylization with plenty of abstraction and a certain dose of urban sophistication. It reflects the aesthetics of the late 1920s, Civilism, and enchantment with modern times, urban life and fashion. The artist, a painter and printmaker from Pilsen, studied privately under Jan Dědina and Ota Bubeníček and has held solo exhibitions in Volyně (Bohemian Forest) and Gorna Oryahovitsa (Bulgaria); his last exhibition was apparently in 1948, when he exhibited his drawings from a trip to England at the Purkyně artist association's exhibition hall in Prague.
