Štorek's first figurative sculptures after 1967 are torsos, but they are distinctively conceived. He first created the sculptures in wax and cast them himself in bronze using the lost wax method. In doing so, he took the prerequisites for working with metal from his family's workshop of artistic blacksmiths. Further training for the artist was studying in Lauda's studio at the Academy of Fine Arts, the influence of the new figuration and the breakthrough year 1964, when he participated in the exhibition Sculpture at the OGL and met in the Etapa group with Jaroslava Pešicová. From the second half of the 1960s he gained valuable experience during his travels in Greece and Paris, where his intense perception of ancient sculpture oriented him towards the figure - the torsality of antiquity, caused by time, became an aesthetic category.
