LARGE BAROQUE TABLE CLOCK
First half of the 18th century
walnut wood, gilded wood, silver-plated brass, gilded bronze, cut blue glass, glass
68 x 66 x 16 cm (h x w x d)
| 7 500 €
This impressive late Baroque table clock, featuring a movement with several functions—including quarter-hour chimes, moon phases, a date display, and a chime stop—is housed in a walnut case richly decorated with the Boulle technique and carved gilded wood. The dial, made of gilded and silvered engraved brass, features Roman numerals and a date display with Arabic numerals, and is also adorned with cut blue glass. This is a rare clock signed on the back of the movement by the clockmaker in a Rococo cartouche: Johann / Haas Niglsburg / 1670. Given the high quality of craftsmanship, it was likely part of the furnishings of the castle in Mikulov. No guarantee is provided regarding the functioning of the clock mechanism.
